Bio (con't)Sifu James was a student of Shaolin Monk, Sung Lee (Xiong Li) who had fled communist China for Korea. Sifu Lee taught the Wing Chun system from the true Shaolin Temple as well as the Yip Man system from Moy Yat (The student with the most time with Yip Man) along side the array of Shaolin Gung Fu systems. After completing his training under Sifu Lee, Sifu James returned home to America and opened his Temple Of Gung Fu to the public in the 1980's. He also holds a Black Belt in Go Ju Ryu Karate. During his years with Sifu James, he was introduced to the Jeet Kune Do community and through them the Arts of Muay Thai, Filipino Kali, and Grappling Arts such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Shooto. He completed the Wing Chun and Shaolin Gung Fu Systems after ten years. In 1994 His life was changed when he met renowned Wing Chun Sifu, Francis Fong of Atlanta Georgia. This first introduction was at the school of Rick McElroy in Hilton Head South Carolina. This same year he met and trained with the legendary martial artist Dan Inosanto (Bruce Lee's Protege' and successor), Chai Sirisute from Thai Land (Head of The Thai Boxing Association U.S.A) and The Legendary Machado Brothers (Brazillian Jiu Jitsu). Through seminars and constant trips to Atlanta for the South Eastern Martial Arts conference he was able to gain experience and was accepted into the Instructor Program under Sifu Francis Fong in Wing Chun Gung Fu and the rest is history. He also entered the Instructor Program of famous Wing Chun Sifu, Augustine Fong of Arizona to Black Sash (Black Belt) level. Throughout his career as a Martial Artist Sifu Jay has worked with Special Police forces, Special Military Personnel, taught eastern philosophy, physical education and Gung Fu for the Harbor School For Arts and Sciences and Williamsburg Technical College. He has worked with fitness teams and business corporations on the Power Of Mindset and its relation to performance. His fitness level, training regimen and open mind continue to inspire students and teachers of all ages and backgrounds. He continues to teach and research other arts and to date has studied with eight Wing Chun teachers. He is considered one of the finest instructors of Wing Chun Gung Fu in South Carolina.
