Colin P. McGuire

Dr. Colin McGuire completed the Sum Nung (Yuen Kay-San / Guangzhou) style of Wing Chun in 2008 under Sifu Henry Kuen-Hung Lo of Toronto, Canada. McGuire then did a PhD at York university with research focused on music and the martial arts, specifically the percussion used to accompany Chinese kung fu and the lion dance. The fieldwork was done at Toronto's Hong Luck Kung Fu Club where McGuire studied the Choi Lee Fut and Do Pi styles of kung fu, sanda, lion dance, and drumming. In 2011-2012, he spent a year in Hong Kong and trained with Sifu Wong Naai-Sek, also of the Sum Nung family. McGuire continues practising Wing Chun, and occasionally accepts private students.
