Year Started in Wing Chun:
2011
I live in Overland Park, Kansas a suburb in the Kansas City metro area. Having hatched in the early days of the baby boom qualifies me as a board-certified geezer. Late in life, I took nearly four years of Korean taekwondo (brown belt) and now almost two years of wing chun under Sifu Randy Li. At my age, while I'm in very good shape, I much prefer the softer style of wing chun and am confident it will serve me well should I ever need it -- though I hope I never do. The TKD was more sports oriented and really didn't fulfill my personal expectations. I left shortly before taking my black belt test and never looked back. I worked with jeet kun do for a few months until the instructor had to give up the class due to personal issues, and that's when I found JKD's big brother, wing chun and Sifu Li. I'm not very good at it but who's checking? I still work as a voice over talent, continue to write and produce scripts for audio commercials and special projects, operate a small aerial photography business, and basically have a lot of fun in life. I have no children -- at least that I know of. I can't imagine retiring. A licensed pilot, I love to fly and spend as much time as I can with Nancy -- a really gorgeous female geezer who attends early morning fitness boot camp classes three days a week. I'd like to get her into Sifu Li's class but I guess the boot camps are enough for now. Dull and boring, I know. But I had to put something down.
