Sum Nung Wing Chun Kuen Academy
Head Instructor: Henry Lo
|Address:||Unit 12, 150 Ferrier Street|
Description & Hours of Operations
The Sum Nung Wing Chun Kuen Academy teaches traditional Chinese martial arts in the northeast end of the Greater Toronto Area, specializing in the Sum Nung style of Wing Chun kung fu. All classes are led by Master Henry Lo, who has over thirty years of teaching experience and is a direct descendent of our lineage’s grandmaster: Sum Nung > Lee Chi-Yiu and Leung Dai-Chiu > Henry Kuen-Hung Lo.
Our academy is like a family, and we offer an attitude-free learning environment. Sifu Lo teaches all classes and demonstrates the movements clearly or gets a senior student to help while he explains. He thoroughly elaborates on the techniques and theories, but does so according to the level of the students, adding more details as time goes by. Pupils are given ample time to practice under Sifu Lo’s watchful eye and receive corrections on not only their forms, but also applications with a partner. Senior students also help lead the training and work with beginners.
The school offers group classes as well as private and semi-private lessons. The main training hall is located in a quiet neighbourhood that is easily reachable from all major routes in Markham, while (semi)private lessons are held near Fairview Mall in Toronto, which is just off the intersection of the DVP/404 and 401 as well as close to the Don Mills stop on the Sheppard subway line. All classes are open to all levels. Both beginners and people with experience in martial arts are welcome.
