Dr. Leung Jan of Foshan. King of Wing Chun. King of Crossing Hands. Leung Jan is the first historical ancestor in Wing Chun that is know to have actually existed and there is historical record of. He is also a focal point in most lineages having learned from multiple Wing Chun teachers brought the different aspects together for the first time (the pole, swords, etc). Later in life he came up with the Side Body system of Wing Chun as well. Passed the art onto this two sons and Chan Wah Shun (the money changer - Ip Man's teacher). Passed Side body on to others.
